PRESS RELEASE
Creation of an Aerolia Subsidiary in Tunisia
In Tunis, Aerolia, French aerostructures leader and world #2 for nose fuselage sections, reached a new milestone in its project to create a subsidiary in Tunisia in order to produce aeronautic sub-assemblies.
Mr Mohamed Nouri JOUINI, Tunisian Minister of Development & International Cooperation and Aerolia President Christian CORNILLE, in presence of Fabrice BREGIER, Aerolia Chairman Board, signed on 28th January, 2009 an agreement for the creation of this 100% Aerolia subsidiary.
Located in a 20-hectare industrial zone south of Tunis, this production unit will specialise in the assembly of subassemblies. €30 million will be invested over 5 years to build this 10,000m² industrial unit, which will eventually employ 700 persons.
Within the framework of this project, Aerolia will federate a network of partners and industrial subcontractors to produce detail parts, sheet metal works, tools and composite parts, and perform surface treatment and logistics operations. Located close to Aerolia, this partner network will reduce logistics flows, enhancing the industrial site's economic performance.
The creation of this plant in Tunisia is part of the international development strategy of Aerolia, a subsidiary created in 2009 and founded on 90 years of experience in Airbus Nose Fuselage and Aerostructures activities. Aerolia in France is 2,200 employees working in the Meaulte, Saint-Nazaire and Toulouse plants, designing and manufacturing more than 4 millions detail parts and subassemblies of the Airbus nose fuselage.
At its creation, AEROLIA, a 100% EADS subsidiary, displayed its determination to conquer sales markets throughout the world and work with all aircraft manufacturers.
AEROLIA is accompanying this ambition with numerous investments in France, at Méaulte with the creation of a Composites Unit and at Saint-Nazaire with the development of mechanical machining, a world first in terms of environment and eco-efficiency.
And finally, it is at its headquarters in Toulouse that the Aerolia Design Office teams create all the Airbus nose fuselages - from the A318 to the A380, and from the A400M to the A350XWB.
